Daylite supports External Meeting Invites, which can come from people not using Daylite or even a Mac. These can be both sent and received. Learn how to send meeting invitations to contacts that are not using Daylite.
Sending a Meeting Invitation to a non-Daylite User:
- Within the desired Daylite appointment, click Add Person under Invitees.
- The invitee should be a Contact within your Daylite database and have a valid email address.
- After filling out all the information needed for the appointment, click Save.
- A window will pop up, which will prompt you to send an External Email Invitation.
- There is an option to customize the email before sending it, please check this if you would like to write a personal message or add any additional information.
- Once you have finished editing and previewing the email, click Send.
- The contact will receive an email with an external attachment for the appointment. When they open this file, they will have the option to accept or decline using their own calendar software.
- Once the response has been saved, you will receive a confirmation email.
- To add this response to Daylite, drag and drop the attachment onto the Daylite icon in your dock. This will open the appointment with the updated information.
- Any changes made to your appointment will open a new email window for the external invitee with the updated meeting information.
Receiving an External Meeting Invitation from a non-Daylite User:
- Using the Daylite Mail Assistant, open the email with the external invitation
- You can choose to accept or decline the appointment and the host will receive a notification of your response.
- Click "Show In Daylite" to open your calendar and choose a category for the appointment.
- The appointment is now in your Daylite calendar.
For Zoom Invitations, the option to Accept and Decline, in DMA, will only be available if the Sender created the Email through an Appointment from a Calendar. If they copy and paste the Zoom Invitation straight into an Email, DMA will not recognize it as an Appointment and you will not have those options available. You will have to create your own Appointment in the Daylite Calendar to reflect this.
If you are not using Daylite Mail Assistant:
- Open the email with the external invitation.
- You can choose to accept or decline the appointment and the host will receive a notification of your response.
- You can also drag and drop the appointment attachment onto the Daylite icon in your dock. This will open your calendar and allow you to choose a category for the new appointment.
- The appointment is now in your Daylite calendar.
Repeating external events will not be accepted into Daylite. External invites that you receive cannot be edited in Daylite, which includes changing its permission to private. If the response is not showing in your calendar, please quit Daylite and reopen it - this should fix the problem.
